The Tow-Tank was developed to provide a robust, multipurpose, towable tank for the transport and storage of hydrocarbons recovered from vessels or oil spills at sea.

The added advantages of lifting when full and ease of use make the Tow-Tank a truly versatile transport and storage medium.

The Tow-Tank is supplied complete for immediate use. Simply unroll, fit six foam floats and hook up using the fitted tow/lift bridle.

Applications

Airlifting:

Packaged size and weight enables airlifting for time critical operations or remote sites.

Towing:

Capable of being towed by virtually any craft at speeds of up to 20 knots empty and up to 10 knots when full (dependent on sea state).

Filling: 

Can be filled along-side or on the deck of a vessel and lifted off for towing to shore.

 

Discharge:

The Tow-Tank can be pumped empty, or lifted full for gravity discharge in only minutes, and returned to sea for additional trips.

Temporary Storage:

 

Able to be moored at sea or stored on vessels, shoreline or any other stable platform for later collection and disposal.

Transportable:

 

Able to be lifted full or filled on a 6.0m deck for transport by vehicle.

Rapid Deployment:

 

No tools required. Simply unroll, fit the six foam floats into Velcro pouches and hook up using the all in one, towing and lifting bridle.

Hydrodynamic Bow Floatation:

 

Made from heavy-duty aluminium the floatation provides positive buoyancy and ensures stable towing in all conditions.

Stable Towing Shape:

The tanks' inherent shape and positive buoyancy at the bow and sides provides a stable towing shape when full or empty.

Shallow Draft:

Enables access into tidal or shoaled areas.

Decontamination:

 

Complete access to the tank inner for cleaning and decontamination is easily achieved by removing the rear clamp bar.

Aluminium Bow Floatation and Rear Clamp Bar:

Constructed in marine grade aluminium with stainless steel fastenings.

Fittings:

The tank is supplied standard with two stainless steel BSP male threaded skin fittings to accept ball valves and camlock fitting (size optional).

Lift/Tow Bridle:

3.2m four-way polyester webbing bridle including shackles, lifting rings and floatation buoy certified to 6000kg.
