Materials:
The tanks are manufactured from heavy duty Military spec fuel grade material providing high strength, Fuel, UV and puncture resistance.
Storage Area:
Flexible tanks require support on all sides with the exception of the top. Typically the tanks are placed in vessel hold areas or stored within a purpose built plywood "coffin" on deck.
Fittings:
Specialist fittings have been developed for these tanks, available in straight hose tail or threaded versions to suit cap or ball valves. Sizing ranges from 1 1/2 (40mm) to 3" (75mm). Breathers are not required providing the fill fitting is positioned top centre, this allows "burping" of any air taken in during filling.
Fill/Discharge:
Fittings are installed to customer's requirements though typically auxiliary tanks utilise the same fitting for both fill and discharge. (Positioned top centre of the tank). Emptying of the tank via this fitting is achieved by either a ball valve connection or by inserting a small suction hose down through the fitting.
Partial Filling:
Operating with the tank partially full is not recommended. Flexible Tanks should be transported full and fully discharged into the main tank once space is available.
